After Tibby and the player help Donna in Donut Land, they come across the Gatekeeper Trio who block their path once again. They force the player to Practice playing Sick Beats to learn the rules, then they each present a Trial of the game of varying difficulty, and challenge charge:
After clearing one of the Trials, the trio open the gate to Barbershop Land. Additionally, the Stable is now open at the Café.
The player can always go back and try the other Trials. The player can replay cleared Trials for free. If the player spends 30[citation needed]Coins without clearing any of the trials, the Gatekeeper Trio allow them to continue anyway.
The player is given a choice to play the game now, or to return later. This section presents the dialogue if the player chooses no the first time, and returns later. Also included is the dialogue if the player clears all three Trials, and the one if they have to skip it.
