Marching Orders (マーチャ Marcher?), is the 3rd minigame in Rhythm Tengoku and the 67th minigame in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. In this game, the player controls a Cadet, who is undergoing marching training with three other cadets while following their Sarge's orders. The game's sequel, Marching Orders 2, is unlocked later on in Rhythm Tengoku.

Marching Orders Arcade
Marcher gameplay 3DS

The player controls a Cadet at the end of the line, and must follow the Sarge’s orders. There are four commands that the Sarge will yell.

  • ”Attention, March!”
  • ”Attention, Halt!”
  • ”Left Face, Here!”
  • ”Right Face, Here!”

The player must perform these with proper timing along with the other Cadets. Around a few seconds before the game is over, the Cadets will be moved offscreen, and the player must continue marching. When all of the Cadets have disappeared, the game will end.

Button Mode

  • A: March
  • B: Halt
  • Left: Look Left
  • Right: Look Right

Simple Tap Mode

  • Tap: Appropriate Action

Timing Notes

  • Hit: The player does the action at the proper time with the other Cadets.
  • Barely: The Sarge will angrily frown. A barely counts as a miss.
  • Miss: The Sarge will turn red with rage while steam puffs out of him.

Marching Orders also appears in the 2P mode of Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade) where it is referred to as Marching Orders 2P (マーチャ 2P Marcher 2P?). It plays the same as the 1P version, but with a second player controlling the second cadet in the lineup.

  • In Rhythm Heaven's game Shoot-'Em-Up 2, the Shoot-'Em-Up Radio Lady is dressed like a cadet.
  • Along with the rest of Stage 1, this game has a counterpart in the arcade version at 150% speed, with a more vibrant synth for orchestration and different graphics.
  • This is one of the few games in Rhythm Tengoku that has more than or equal to 3 commands - this one has 4 commands.
  • This is one of a few games to have different rating screens in both versions, except for the Superb rating screen which keeps the same style.
  • This is the one of a few games in Megamix to use every button (the D-Pad, the "B" button and the "A" button). The others are Super Samurai Slice & its sequel.
  • According to a picture in Tengoku's credits, the cadet's hair colors are red, yellow, blue, and orange.
  • In the files for all 3 versions of Marching Orders in Rhythm Tengoku, there are unused sprites of:
    • The Cadets, Sarges, & Alien Bunnies clapping. It seems like Megamix has the clapping sprites too.
    • The Cadets & Alien Bunnies pointing like they did in Marching Orders 2. Megamix also has these sprites for the former, but lacks the Tickflow cue to activate it.
    • The Alien Bunnies marching like the humans in the normal game & sequel; them swaying their arms around & curving their bodies like the Lumbercats; & them looking upwards with their mouths open.
